On the morning of August 6, , the American B Enola Gay dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Three days later another B, Bock’s Car, released one over Nagasaki. Both caused enormous casualties and physical destruction. These two cataclysmic events have preyed upon the American conscience ever since.
